Özet
The fact that a person has a lot of words in terms of number, meaning and genre, knows the concepts and uses these words comfortably in daily life, shows the depth and richness of that person's imagination, understanding and comprehension. This qualification of person makes it possible to conceive, imagine and judge assets, situations and events in the outer and inner world more effectively. Such people are knowledgeable, creative, pleasant conversation, understanding and sensitive. A person's rich vocabulary contributes to the development of one's concept and cognitive dimension, the development of thought horizon and the formation of art and literature pleasure. Investigations to determine vocabulary are important in terms of language richness and language preference in narrative. When the literature review is made, it has seen that many researches were done for the detection about the vocabulary of certain groups and the vocabulary of written resources in Turkey. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the vocabulary of the Gazi University Foundation Private Anatolian High School students in a corpus-based way. The written documents of the students were processed in the corpus program and the obtained data were analyzed statistically. In this study, it is considered that all students have sufficient vocabulary in written expressions in terms of number of total and unique word usage. When the written expressions of the students were examined in terms of gender change, it was determined that there was no significant difference between male and female students in terms of total and unique word use usage. However, it seems that the number of words used by male students is higher. It is observed that female students' written expressions are more successful in terms of word diversity and narrative richness. In addition, it has been determined that the words frequently used by students overlap with the word lists created in previous studies.
