ÇERKES NART DESTANLARI’NIN NELİĞİ, NASILLIĞI VE NEREDENLİĞİ BAĞLAMINDA GEORGE DUMÉZİL’İN ÜÇ İŞLEV HİPOTEZİ / ŞABLONU

Özet

Epics, which are an important part of the cultural fabric of every society, are regarded as sacred texts. Issues such as how the heroes emerged and with whom they fought are discussed. Circassian Nart Epic tells the adventures of heroes called Nart. Heroes function as the carrier columns of the epic. Circassian Nart epics have a well-deserved reputation in the world literature. The aim of this study is to discuss the Circassian Nart epics in terms of subject, style, traces in literature, heroes, non-human creatures in the epic, nature and space relations, and George Dumézil’s triple ideology / trifunctional hypothesis theoretically through world epics. In the study, domestic and foreign sources were scanned and the data obtained were analysed by content analysis. Dumézil’s trifunctional hypothesis seems to have forced certain social structures rather than offering a general-valid explanation, and we found that it is insufficient in analysing social structures. Epics are shaped according to the region. In Nart mythology, Sosruko is similar to Prometeus of Greek mythology. In addition, the characteristics of Setanay, a female hero, are similar to the Artemis or Amazon female warriors of Greek mythology. We aimed to contribute to the literature by listing our findings in the conclusion section. It is foreseen that our research will be the main source in the future.
