Özet

With the effect of technological developments, some traditions are either disappearing or in danger of disappearing. On the other hand, rapid developments in technology and science have increased the population growth rate and extended human life. Factories were established to meet the demands with the population growth rate, and as a result of rapid and mass production in factories, many handicrafts have either disappeared or are in danger of disappearing. The Chust knife, traditionally produced in the Chust city of Namangan Province in Uzbekistan, is one of the handicraft products that is in danger of disappearing due to its small number of masters and the unwillingness of future generations to practice this craft. In the study, information about the current status of the Chust knives produced in the Fergana Valley, a mining region, was obtained by using the qualitative research methods of interviewing and observation with the masters who made the knives. In this direction, previously prepared questions were directed to the source persons, and information about the types of knives and their production processes was obtained.
