APOLLONİA a.R NEKROPOL ALANI DÜZENLEMESİ

Özet

The Ancient City of Apollonia a.R., located in Gölyazı Neighborhood, Nilüfer District, Bursa Province, has a large necropolis area at the entrance of the city, popularly known as the non-Muslim cemetery. Excavations in the necropolis were carried out in 2016 and 2017 in cooperation with the Bursa Archaeological Museum and Bursa Uludağ University. As a result of the excavations in the graves, most of which were destroyed by treasure hunters, 27 graves were fully uncovered. The subject of this study is the arrangements made to open the partially excavated Necropolis area to the public. In the process following the excavations, the area where the treasure excavations were intense was first surrounded by a protective fence. With the permission of the Bursa Regional Council for the Protection of Cultural Assets, protection and landscaping works were started in the necropolis area. First of all, protection measures were taken for the tombs made of mudbrick or brick materials because they are very sensitive, and two areas were covered with steel frame supported protection roofs. In the necropolis arrangement project, first of all, a walking route was created according to the locations of the graves. Information signs and benches were placed on the sides of the road, allowing visitors to examine the area in detail and rest. Since the originals of the small artifacts found in the necropolis area are exhibited in the museum, imitations were made and placed in the appropriate places where they were found during the excavation. The main purpose of the application is to provide holistic data to the visitor and to better understand the finds together with the architecture to which they belong.
