The importance of educational materials in shaping values is increasingly emphasized in today's educational approaches. In this context, the purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of values education implemented in music classes for students with mild intellectual disabilities attending different educational levels (Primary School First Stage Grades 1-4, Middle School Second Stage Grades 5-8, High School Third Stage Grades 9-12) and in vocational special education high schools. In the study, it was analyzed how the root values of the lyrics in music textbooks were represented. The findings revealed that certain core values such as love, patriotism, and friendship are frequently addressed; however, significant values like honesty, respect, and altruism are almost entirely unrepresented. These results indicate that music lessons need to be restructured to provide a more comprehensive contribution to the moral and ethical development of students. It is suggested that education policymakers, educators, music teachers, and special education experts consider these findings to develop more effective and inclusive music education programs for students with mild intellectual disabilities.
