This study examines the emotion verbs with a single mental category in Süheyl ü Nev-bahâr, a verse love story translated from Persian to Turkish in Anatolia in the second half of the 14th century by Hoca Mes’ûd. The work was chosen because it is the first masnavi in the history of the Turkish language to address human love and because it reflects the linguistic characteristics of its time. The emotion verbs identified were classified into two categories: positive-negative emotional verbs and neutral emotional verbs that do not have any emotional equivalent in the behavior of the individuals. It has been determined that the 124 emotion verbs identified in the work are in the form of compound phraseological verbs that are fused in root, stem and meaning. The emotive verbs identified in the verse love story “Süheyl ü Nev-bahâr” reflect the emotional atmosphere of that period.
