Mining is one of the activities that has a wide area of impact from nomadism to settled life. Mining has an impact on many fields, including economics, military, commerce, geology, chemistry, and linguistics. The approach taken into consideration in the study is etymology. The subject of the study is the examination of mineral names in terms of etymology. The study is limited to metallic minerals and alloyed metals obtained from these minerals. Document analysis method was used in the study. Phonetics, semantics and similar approaches were taken into account in determining the origin of minerals. The data is important in terms of the historical and contemporary dialects of the Turkish language and its use in its geography. As a result of the study, it was understood that the mineral names determined to be of Turkish origin provide enlightening information about the culture and history of the Turkish language.
