Verbs, one of the fundamental elements constituting the lexical inventory of a language, are classified morphologically, syntactically, and semantically within the language. Communicative verbs, on the other hand, are classified as mental verbs. In this study, communication verbs were examined based on the Türkiye’de Halk Ağzından Derleme Sözlüğü (2009), one of the works reflecting the lexical inventory of Anatolian dialects. A classification was made based on the works of Yıldız (2016) and Ärnazarov (1982) for the identification and classification of these verbs, referred to as explanatory verbs or communication verbs. In this study, verbs expressing negative emotions were selected as a sample from among communicative verbs based on their semantic features; these verbs were classified under seven thematic headings and analysed. As a result, it was determined that the negative communication verbs identified in the Derleme Sözlüğü are linguistic units that facilitate, regulate, and maintain communication between individuals and convey people’s positive and negative feelings and thoughts.
