Özet

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between critical thinking tendencies and academic self-efficacy of secondary school students in terms of various variables. The correlational survey method, which is one of the quantitative research patterns, was used in the study. The study group consists of 678 students who studied in the secondary schools in the city center of Afyonkarahisar in the 2019-2020 academic year and selected through simple random sampling. As the data collection tool, “Critical Thinking Tendency Scale” developed by Ertaş Kılıç and Şen (2014) and “Academic Self-Efficacy Scale” developed by Ekici (2012) were used. As a result of the research, it was concluded that while critical thinking tendency of secondary school students showed a significant difference according to grade variable, their academic self-efficacy showed a significant difference according to gender and grade variables. In addition it was determined that the variables of grade level, mother education level, father education level and family income level significantly affected the relationship between these two cases.
