This study examines the cultural elements included in the Turkish coursebook for fifth grades, with a focus on their contribution to cultural literacy. The research utilizes document analysis and cultural content analysis criteria to evaluate the appearance of cultural items in the coursebook. The findings reveal that cultural literacy is integrated into the Turkish Language Teaching Programme, with learning outcomes aligned accordingly. The fifth grade coursebook prepared by the Ministry of National Education includes a significant number of cultural contents related to the Game World, Getting to Know Atatürk, and Our Traditions themes. The presence of diverse cultural contents is believed to enhance cultural literacy among students. These findings highlight the importance of educational materials that promote cultural belonging and contribute to the cultural literacy of students in Turkish lessons. Overall, this study provides insights into the integration of cultural elements in Turkish coursebooks and their impact on students' cultural literacy.
