In general terms, certain foreign words, after being directly adopted into Turkish and used for a long period, have been attempted to be replaced with their equivalents in the native language. Although the overall goal of the efforts in this field is to facilitate the Turkishization of foreign terms and address the issue of Turkish terminology, in some cases, the foreign word is still employed in conjunction with its original counterpart, while in others, a Turkish equivalent could not be found or the Turkish counterpart did not gain acceptance by failing to convey the intended meaning. One such word is the concept of 'didactic'. To explain and clarify this phrase, the study examines the definition of 'didactic' as a concept in dictionaries and encyclopedias, with an aim to minimize the existing confusion.
